Logo Ground Zero BJJ
Duration: 2 days, 2 nights
Location: Siem Reap, KHM
Costs: Hostel 38$, Flight 550$

Just a few days before Christmas I started my next trip to Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand.

My first stop was Siem Reap in Cambodia.

I found a place to train and visited the temples surrounding the city.

Getting here

I took an airplane from Zürich with a stopover in Bankok to Siem Reap.

Other options would be taking the bus from Phnom Phen.

I wasn’t sure if there will be BJJ training in Cambodia. I was super happy that I found Ground Zero in Siem Reap.

The gym just opened lately and they are very happy to welcome visitors. A wide range of trainings such as Kun Khmer, BJJ, Boxing, Yoga and kid’s classes are offered and trainings will be holden daily.

The Mat-area is around 100 square meters, the gym is half open on the sides covered by a roof to protect from bad weather.

If you are in Siem Reap go and train with them.

Exploring the Flavors of Cambodian Cuisine

Nestled between Thailand, Vietnam, and Laos, Cambodia boasts a cuisine that’s as rich and diverse as its history and culture. Cambodian food, with its unique blend of flavors, textures, and ingredients, offers a tantalizing journey for the taste buds. Let’s dive deep into the world of Cambodian gastronomy.

Amok: If there’s one dish that encapsulates the soul of Cambodian cuisine, it’s Amok. This creamy, coconut-based curry is traditionally steamed in banana leaves and can feature fish, chicken, or tofu. Infused with a medley of herbs and spices like lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, and turmeric, Amok offers a harmonious blend of sweet, savory, and aromatic flavors.

Street Food Delights: Cambodia boasts a vibrant street food culture. From savory delights like Nom Banh Chok (rice noodle soup) and Kuy Teav (noodle soup) to sweet treats like Num Ansom (sticky rice cakes wrapped in banana leaves), the streets of Cambodia are a culinary playground for food enthusiasts.

What to do

Visiting Ankor Wat

Siem Reap is primarily known for its proximity to the famous Angkor Archaeological Park, home to the iconic Angkor Wat temple complex. However, beyond the ancient temples, Siem Reap offers a blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. Here’s a list of things you can do while in Siem Reap:

Angkor Archaeological Park: This is the primary reason many tourists visit Siem Reap. Like many others I had to see it. Tikets you can get online or over your tour guide. Apart from the famous Angkor Wat, there are many other temples like Bayon, Ta Prohm, and Banteay Srei. I booked my ticket online and hired a Tuktuk driver to drive me around.

Explore the Old Market: Experience local life and shop for souvenirs, handicrafts, spices, and more. The market is also a great place to try local Cambodian street food.

Pub Street and Night Market: The bustling Pub Street offers a range of restaurants, bars, and clubs.
