Sayulita is a small beach town  a 4 hour drive away from Guadalajara.

Gabo`s coach Focil was teaching a seminar, so we went to Sayulita to train and relax a bit on the surfer`s beach.

Getting here

Thanks to Gabo we could took the his car and drove over.

Another option is to take the bus from Guadalajara to Sayulita.

BJJ

Focil the head couch of Krakens Bay Studio taught a seminar at Sayulita Jiu Jitsu.

Sayulita Jiu Jitsu is in the center of the town, just one or two blocks away from the beach. The academy is located on the 2nd floor of the building. The mat area is around 80m2.

Before the seminar there was a kid`s class. The kids group was quite big.

Tavo is the head coach and a very nice guy. We couldn`t roll together because he had a shoulder injury.

Boat trip

Sayulita is a surfer`s town.

Everywhere you go you find surfboard rentals and schools that offers lessions. The conditions weren`t so good at the time we were there so I didn`t get chance to surf.

We booked a snorkeling tour which brought us to the Hidden Beach. One of the things on my bucket list.

Food and drinks

Still Mexican but thanks to the ocean they were serving more seafood in the restaurants.

It was easier to eat healthy than before.

You will also find some places offering healthy bowls and clean food.

Nightlife

The town is full of bars. They mostly have  live music playing at night. It`s easy to walk around during the night and get some food and drinks. We bar hopped every night and got to check out a couple of spots.

Good to know

For Europeans getting into Mexico is easy. You only need to show your passport to clear the immigration and fill out a form to clear customs. No Visa required.

The town is full of foreigners; most Mexican people you see are working here.

Fun fact: The sellers on the street will first ask you if you want to buy souvenirs or gadgets for the beach, and than the second question is mostly if you need some weed.

The currency is Mexican Pesos (MXN).
